The Harbor-Nizhny

Approximately 15,000 youth between the ages of 16-18 will graduate or age out of the orphanage system each year in Russia. About one thousand such youth age out in the Nizhny Novgorod region yearly.

The Harbor-Nizhny is a transitional housing program that provides a home for emancipated orphans for a 2-3 year period of time. During their time at The Harbor, residents receive guidance in acquiring a higher education, job skills, and basic life skills through the guidance of mentors. Additionally, spiritual mentors provide training in moral and ethical matters. Trained psychologists help residents cope with their unique issues in both individual and group sessions. The Harbor-Nizhny currently consists of two residential facilities, one for young ladies and one for young men.

The Harbor-Nizhny is a project of the Fory Charitable Trust, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
